Overview
The CF-02 is a professional CO2 fractional laser built around a Coherent RF-excited metal laser tube that emits at the classic 10600nm carbon dioxide wavelength. It is used by trained clinicians for ablative skin resurfacing, scar revision and wrinkle correction, and it sits in the Ultrapulse CO2 Fractional Laser (10600nm) line.
Three output modes give one platform broad reach: continuous wave for cutting and minor cosmetic-surgery tasks, UltraPulse for deeper single-spot ablation, and fractional scanning for controlled resurfacing. A computer pattern generator drives a galvanometer scanner, so energy lands as an even grid of micro-spots rather than through cheaper micro-lens optics. How It Works
The 10600nm beam is strongly absorbed by water, which is the main chromophore in skin. When the fractional handpiece fires, the scanner lays down an array of tiny spots. Each spot vaporises a narrow column of tissue and leaves a rim of thermal coagulation around it, forming a microscopic treatment channel while the skin between channels stays intact.
This fractional pattern follows the principle of selective photothermolysis first described by Anderson and Parrish (1983), later extended to grid-based treatment as fractional photothermolysis. Because only part of the surface is ablated in one pass, the surrounding untreated tissue acts as a reservoir that speeds healing and lowers risk compared with fully ablative resurfacing.
The columns start the normal wound-healing cascade of inflammation, proliferation and remodelling. New collagen forms as the dermal framework rebuilds, which is what helps firm skin and soften scars and lines. An adjustable pulse width lets the operator work near the tissue thermal relaxation time, favouring collagen contraction while limiting unwanted heat spread. A coaxial 635nm red aiming beam shows where the invisible infrared energy will land.

What can the CF-02 treat?
In fractional mode it is used for wrinkles, enlarged pores, skin tightening, scars including acne and surgical scars, stretch marks and pigmented lesions such as age spots. In CW and UltraPulse modes it also handles minor cosmetic-surgery tasks like skin tags and small lesion removal. Every use assumes a trained operator and a prior patient assessment.
Which skin types and patients suit it?
CO2 laser resurfacing generally works best on lighter to medium skin, since darker skin carries a higher risk of post-treatment pigment change. The operator should screen each patient first. Common contraindications noted in the manual include recent isotretinoin use, a tendency to keloids, active infection, immunosuppression and pregnancy. Parameters are lowered for thin areas such as around the eyes.
How many treatment sessions are typical?
This depends on the indication and how much correction the patient wants. Light photo-damage or shallow scars may respond in a single pass, while moderate to severe cases usually need more passes or repeat sessions. The manual guides operators to limit each area to a set number of passes per session to protect healing. A clinician sets the final plan.
